If you want to spend a little time learning more of what Destin was like before it became a big tourist attraction, this is the place to visit. The museum is an interesting little spot packed with tons of information and pictures on the history of Destin.

Destin, a lot of people wouldn't know, started off as a fishing village, and still has a very strong fishing industry. Today Destin is known as the World Luckiest Fishing Village.

You do not have to be a fisherperson to enjoy this museum. The museum has some very interesting artifacts, mounted fish of all species imaginable which had been caught in the area and donated by private citizens, old maps, as well as personal pictures galore.

You can also see all sort of equipment for catching fish, as well as historical equipment used on boats. There are small areas dedicated to the history of turpentine in the area, as well as some Indian history. And for those of you familiar with the area, you may be interested in seeing old pictures of Destin and how it was over 50 years ago.
