While Destin is famed for its fishing, its beaches are without any doubt among the most beautiful in the world. There are five beachfront parks and 12 beach access ways along the Destin, Ft. Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island coastline. What all of them have in common is the sugar-white sand and emerald-green water.

One of the most popular beaches is Henderson Beach State Park. Fantastic, not crowded beach where you can not only swim and sunbath, but also fish in the surf, go biking, camp and walk the nature trail. In spring, you can enjoy the wild rosemary and magnolias which bloom here while in autumn, the beach is carpeted with beach morning glory and other colorful wildflowers.

When it comes to families, their favorite beach is James Lee County Park due to the shallow and clear water and the many picnic tables, pavilions, the fantastic playground and restrooms with changing rooms. Good food is served at the Crab Trap restaurant in the parking lot.

On the Okaloosa Island, you’ll find John Beasley Beach Park where you can snorkel, fish, and even do a little surfing. Beach is always clean and hardly ever overcrowded. There's plenty of parking, the bathrooms are clean, and they have two areas to shower before getting back in the car. They have lifeguards on duty too.

If you are looking for a place to eat then you better head next door to Newman Brackin Beach Park where you can enjoy the great restaurants, souvenir shops, and more right on the Boardwalk. You’ll also find a playground for the kids here.
